Who will operate the site?
The plant will be developed and operated by E.ON Energy from Waste (EEW). It is part of energy company E.ON and it is the business responsible for the development, construction, and management of the group’s energy from waste plants. It currently employs 1,300 staff in Europe.
Currently the company owns and operates 19 EfW facilities across Europe and processes approximately five million tonnes of municipal and industrial waste each year, generating 2,900GWh of steam and heat and 2,800GWh of electricity.
During construction the plant will employ around 300 people and we will actively encourage local companies to bid for construction work and we will work with regional agencies to try and achieve this. Some elements of the building programme may have to be carried out by specialist contractors from outside the local area. Once it is operational, the plant will employ around 50 people.
