Tata Chemicals Europey's Lostock site off Griffiths Road is home to a number of companies that were once part of ICI. We are the major operator on the site, occupying around 68 hectares.
The proposed new Sustainable Energy Plant will be built on the site of a disused and derelict coal-fired power station. This was decommissioned in 2000, when the gas-fired Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant at Winnington, which is run by E.ON, was built.
The proposed site of the Sustainable Energy Plant was chosen by Cheshire County Council as a site suitable for thermal treatment of waste as detailed in the Waste Local Plan 2007.
Our proposed power station, including an ash treatment facility and rail reception facility, would occupy an area of 6.4 hectares.
Importantly, the site is already well serviced by mainland rail and road networks.
