We have now submitted an application for consent to build our proposed Sustainable Energy Plant to the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC).

We are committed to sharing our plans with the local communities that surround our sites and are keen to hear your views on our proposals.

Decisions on plans for an energy plant of this size follow a different path to other planning applications. Section 36 of the Electricity Act 1989 requires that all electricity generating plants above 50MW output receive consent from DECC. Consent is also required under Section 90 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990.

Our application for consent was submitted to DECC in Spring 2010. Copies of the application have also been supplied to Cheshire West and Chester Council and Cheshire East Council, who must share their views with DECC by 28th June 2010. We expect a decision from the Government within 12 months.

If the green light is given, it is expected that construction will start in 2012 and the plant will be operational in 2014 or 2015.

Whilst we are waiting for a decision from the Government, we will continue to talk to local communities and other interested parties about our proposals. This website will be updated regularly, and we are always happy to talk to local groups about the plans.
