What is sustainable development?

Sustainable development means development that meets our needs now, without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

Why is this sustainable?

The 'Energy from Waste' (EFW), or 'energy recovery' process, takes materials that would otherwise go to landfill and uses them to produce clean, sustainable power.

Biomass is plant-derived material.

The large-scale extraction of non-renewable resources, such as coal, oil and gas, will meet the needs of the current generation. But supplies of these fossil fuels will not last. So we need to use resources more efficiently and that is why businesses such as Brunner Mond now want to switch to using sustainable energy.
